Mr David Nott completed his medical degree at Manchester University in 1981 and went on to become a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1985. He completed post-graduate surgical training in Liverpool, specialising in General and Vascular Surgery and became a Consultant in 1992.
He has a busy NHS practice and works at three London hospitals. He works as a Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster hospital, a Consultant Trauma and Vascular Surgeon at St Mary’s Hospital, and a Consultant Sarcoma Surgeon at the Royal Marsden Hospital. Since 1993 he has taken up to three months unpaid leave a year to volunteer to work as a surgeon for the aid agencies and has worked all over the world mainly in areas of conflict. He runs the Surgical Training for the Austere Environment course at the Royal College of Surgeons and has his own charity the David Nott Foundation which offers scholarships to surgeons from all over the world to come on the course and takes his training course to the conflict front line.
